Starmount Life and Unum Give Dental and Vision Benefits a Makeover
Unum’s successful acquisition of Starmount Life launches a new name in dental and vision coverage.
Industry-leading employee benefits provider Unum and recently acquired Starmount Life, one of America’s fastest-growing dental and vision insurance businesses, have joined forces to roll out Unum Dental and Unum Vision plans, which will hit the market on January 1, 2017, just five months after the acquisition.
These two solid companies have combined their strengths to add greater benefits and value for employers and their employees.
In August, Unum acquired the parent company of Starmount Life, H&J Capital, equipping it to add dental and vision plans – two important coverage options employees need and want – to its employee benefits portfolio. While Unum is nationally recognized and highly experienced in employee benefits, integrated dental and vision plans are new additions for the 170-year old, Fortune 500 company.
Starmount Life and sister company, AlwaysCare Benefits, Inc., have extensive experience in both the dental and vision markets, and offer several key advantages, including national networks, on-demand ID cards, and a mobile app to locate a network provider or to check claim status, among other features.
The inclusion of integrated dental and vision insurance enables Unum to become the single provider of supplemental employee benefits outside of health and retirement. This means Unum can provide one-stop shopping, simplified enrollment, streamlined billing and comprehensive customer service processes for benefit professionals and employees.
Starting January 1, 2017, Unum Vision and Unum Dental – powered by Starmount Life – will be available in select markets in 2017 and nationally by 2018. Starmount Life’s Baton Rouge office will serve as Unum’s dental and vision center of expertise for the U.S.
“We are excited to now be a part of the Unum family and to help Unum provide easy benefit solutions to brokers, employers and their employees,” said Deborah Sternberg, President of Starmount Life.
